Mint & Pink Water Marbling

As promised in my quick tutorial yesterday, I'll now show you the full manicure with that water marbling you already saw a bit. These water marbling skittlettes have been going around in Finnish nail blogs and I also wanted to my version since I haven't water marbled in a while. At least Sissi from Better Nail Day, Papu from Jos Edes Kynnet and Kaisa from Kynsisirkus have been each sporting a similar type of manicure, just with different colors and I just loved each and every single one of those manis!

I actually did this mani for my visit to Tampere and beauty bloggers' meet, so you might have seen a glimpse of this already in my posts about that event too.

I was in a bit hurry when I made these, so they didn't actually turn out like I planned, but I still liked this manicure nevertheless. Ideally I would prefer the water marbling patterns to be more or less similar to each other, but somehow I managed to make the middle finger on my left hand totally differently that the others. However, I did like the color combination on taht nail too, so I just left it like that (and because I didn't really have time to do it again).

The funny thing about this water marbling here is that it was supposed to be mint, turquoise and pink. That's why the title of this post isn't mint, purple & pink water marbling as I didn't actually use anything purple for this manicure. I used three Essie polishes: pink one is Bottle Service, mint one is of course Mint Candy Apple but the third one is actually blue-green one called Naughty Nautical eventhough I know it doesn't look like it! Everytime the polishes mixed somehow together and Naughty Nautical parts turned into purple. But then again, I didn't really mind that as the color combination look really nice anyhow! Also, that's the fun thing about water marbling, you never quite know what you are going to get.

I also used Essie Blanc as my white base for the marbling and I painted my thumb, index and ring finger nails with Mint Candy Apple. As I'm apparently incapable of doing water marbling manicure without topping it with China Glaze Fairy Dust, so that's exactly what I did.

I also wanted to add bright pink studs to those nails that I painted with Mint Candy Apple, but I didn't have any that would match the bright color of Bottle Service. I solved that problem just painting some lighter pink studs with a coat of Bottle Service before adding them on my nails.

Here are all the polishes that I used for this manicure (though of course I forgot to include my white base color Essie Blanc):
So yeah, no purple polish there...

It was so much fun to do a water marbling mani for a change. I definitely should do these more often! How about you guys, when wast the last time you did some water marbling?
